23rd October 2016:

We only stayed for 3 days but were still treated to a pot of home-made jam and bread and 2 bottles of local cider, eggs and butter. Most welcome! The only negative I would say is the presence of the odd wasp in the cottage. They didn't bother us , but some folks are freaked by them. Guess the source of entry needs to be found!

Tips:

Lovely church in Newnham and also excellent food in "The George" cafe there. If the Severn Bore is high this area is a good place to view it on the other side of Newnham and then in Minsterworth down Church Lane or at the Severn Bore Inn.

16th October 2016:

The cottage was ideal for us (retired couple). A good location and everything that we needed for a 5 day stay. One thing for the future would be a suggestion for improved wifi reception.

Tips:

Visit Ross on Wye and Symonds Yat. The latter is beautiful. The Saracen's Head at Symonds Yat East is very good for lunch and in a beautiful setting at the side of the river.

1st June 2016:

A really lovely peaceful place to stay for a tranquil setting, a great get away, a warm welcome from the property owners and a welcome basket of fresh bread, butter and local cider was very thoughtful. A nice galley kitchen to prepare your meals and comfortable furnishing, a BBQ was provided. There is wifi and a TV if you need it.

Tips:

We only stayed for 4 nights but there are plenty of nice walks, great scenery and wild life to look out for including Kestrels, Buzzards, wild geese and many other beautiful birds. I would recommend taking some food with you but there are a few mini markets / petrol stations about and various public houses. Lydney is worth a visit to the harbour, it is very deep water, strong tidal area, with open walking areas, there are plenty of warning signs so take a careful approach if you have young children or are infirm.

11th April 2016:

We had a fantastic time. I have never come across so much bird activity and the scenery is beautiful.

Tips:

We very much enjoyed walking in the Forest of Dean and visiting Nature in Art in addition to our more adventurous activities of go-karting in Gloucester and husky-sledding near Tewkesbury! We would recommend the fish and chips in Blakeney, but would suggest ordering ahead as they can a bit slow!
