29th May 2019:

Everything was so great that it almost felt not true. The first thoughts we had about those places were that they were enchanted, humans mix so well with the nature around them and they respect it as it should be everywhere. The view from our room was beautiful, letting your eyes relax and your mind wander. Belvedere House was very clean and we felt like at home. We had everything we needed there and even more. The owners do more than they are expected to do, they have been hospitable and helpful throughout all of our stay, and they cook delicious food! Thank you for making our stay so comfortable.

Tips:

We definitely recommend to go up to symonds yat rock, the view of the river and valley up there is literally breath-taking and the walk to get to the top is an immersion into nature and animal wildlife. We personally recommend activities such as pony trekking and canoeing, which very well fit the environment and context. We very much enjoyed both and wish that was something we could regularly do. For eating, fish and chips shop up the road on the left of belvedere house is alright but not the best, the Indian restaurant around the corner is very good, if you aren't very used to Indian food they will guide you according to your preferences. Transports are scarce and the boards at the bus stands aren't up to date, ask the bus driver or trust Google maps/ stagecoach west website for timetables. Amazing experience, definitely recommend.

27th May 2019:

Everything was simply perfect; Belvedere House could rival any 5 star hotel, (only better) with personal, very friendly service, relaxed atmosphere and wonderful food. Helen’s baking is exceptional ( and there are very few B and Bs or hotels that provide delicious cakes in a lovely conservatory). The breakfast choices are amazing, and all cooked to perfection. We hope very much to get the chance to come again ( though once the word gets around, it might become difficult to book!).

Tips:

We really enjoyed dinner at the Mill Race restaurant in Walford. Goodrich castle is splendid, as is the view from Symonds Yat Rock. The Forest of Dean steam railway made for a fun trip. Monmouth is a very nice town to visit, with a lovely museum ( and lunch at “Salt and Pepper”). Ross-on-Wye has lots of good walks and splendid views from “ the Prospect”.

One of the best b & b we've ever stayed at. Spacious room with glorious views and a good sized shower. The breakfasts were amazing with every possible choice you could think of, and they were beautifully cooked and plentiful. We would definitely return if in the area again.

Tips:

All of the eateries we visited were very good and value for money. We went to the River Spice a few yards away; the Dog and Muffler, and the two pubs in Parkend. Also, the Saracen ahead at Symmonds Yat East where we took a ferry across the river and did a lovely walk along the river and crossing over the rope bridge at Biblins to return. We climbed up to see Symmonds Yat Rock for magnificent views.

Belvedere House B & B is a very comfortable and welcoming place to stay, with breath taking views over the river and hills beyond. My room was spacious and comfortable. Helen and Jeremy try very hard to make the stay as enjoyable as possible and breakfast is delicious. Helen, being a very good cook, also makes cakes and biscuits for guest use during the day, which are hard to resist. I thoroughly enjoyed my 3 nights with them.

Tips:

I was attending a course at Ragman's Lane Farm so didn't have the opportunity of exploring the local area.

5th April 2019:

You made Richard and I feel very welcome and the tea and cakes on arrival and during our 3 night stay was much appreciated and delicious. The quality of the breakfasts was absolutely superb. We both agreed they were the best we'd ever had at a B&B. Seemed a bit strange at first to tick our choices ahead of time but realised this was necessary because of the vast choice of options that were on offer. Our bed was very comfy and the spacious room very well stocked with drink options and toiletries and had everything we needed. Lovely to catch up on some films too. The conservatory was a great place to relax too and the choice of guide books was particularly helpful. We would love to come back and visit again and will recommend it to friends.

Tips:

We decided to have a drink and snack at lunchtime wherever we were visiting instead of eating out in the evenings. The walks from Belvedere House up towards Symonds Yat were beautiful and both Jeremy and Helen chatted through loads of local walks and places to visit, as well as providing maps and guide books. This meant we were able to make the most of each day, We enjoyed visiting Ross and Abergavenny and admiring the spectacular views from the top of Yat Rock.

30th March 2019:

Another amazing few days spent in this wonderful guest house in a beautiful part of the country. The stunning location and views are only outdone by Jeremy & Helen’s very warm welcome and the beautifully appointed rooms. When you add on Helen’s amazing cakes and fantastic breakfasts, it deserves a 10 star rating not just 5 star as normally given. The steps up to the front door are needed to help keep the waistline down. I defy anyone to find anything negative to say about Belvedere House

Tips:

We enjoyed a lovely 5-6 circular walk from the guest house, ask Jeremy for directions. Remember estaurant 3 is well worth the drive into Ross in Wye but be sure to book as even on a Wednesday evening it was full to overflowing. Picturesque Symonds Yatt with it’s stunning views and lovely wooded walks is only a short drive away. Venture a bit further to Hereford and visit the beautiful cathedral and the £6 entrance fee to the Mappa Mundi and chain library will be money well spent

Very best B & B we have ever stayed in, everything about it is superb. Wonderful warm & welcoming hosts, lovely comfortable rooms with stunning views and amazing breakfasts. Jeremy and Helen go above and beyond to make your stay everything you want it to be and more. The homemade cakes on arrival deserve to be on GBBO and if they were Helen would get a handshake from Paul.

Tips:

Stunning location in easy reach of Symonds Yatt, Monmouth and many other locations. Lots of good pubs and restaurants in the area for dinner and Jeremy is happy to recommend and give directions. A really lovely b&b, we'd definitely stay again. The view from the room looking over the river and hills is excellent, and the breakfast is the best I've ever had. There was also cakes on arrival, what more could you ask for?!

Tips:

We did a great walk, which is on the b&b website named Goodrich and Symonds Yat. The only drawback was that the bridge to cross the river near the b&b is closed for summer work. You can still do the walk though, just make sure at the bridge near Goodrich that you cross over to come back to the b&b on the b&b side of the river. The Indian restaurant in the nearby pub was good. I'd also recommend canoeing down the river, we didn't do it but it looked great fun and is something we'll do when we return next time.

Nothing was to much trouble for Helen and Jeremy. Lovely to have assortment of cakes every afternoon. They both helped with places to visit.

Tips:

Only bug bear for us we like to leave our car and walk to places and for evening meals. Due to the hill and not many places to eat within walking distance. We did have fish and chips one night portions were quite large, it was very nice being able to eat in the conservatory. This is no reflection on our hosts. The best meal and the dearest which we didn’t mine was the Scarens Head at Simpson Yap.

Hi and thank you for taking the time to give us a review. Thank you also for your kind comments. It was a pleasure having you stay with us. Regarding places to eat, you are quite right that unless you are in the centre of a town or city you often have to travel to find an eatery and even then the one you want might not be within walking distance. However, we are lucky in this rural community as we have 3 pubs in the village all selling food! One of which is literally just round the corner (4 minutes walk) from us. So there is no need to use the car if you don't want to! There are also plenty of other good places to eat within a short drive from Belvedere. Cheers

26th May 2018:

We had a very enjoyable stay, our hosts were pleasant and welcoming, Helen is an excellent chef! Breakfasts and cakes were delicious. Our room was comfortable, modern and clean with a beautiful view. We liked watching the birds on the feeders as we ate our breakfast. The conservatory for guests to sit in also has plates and cutlery for people who buy takeaway meals like we did which we thought is considerate. This is a relaxing place to stay and we would highly recommend it. Something to bear in mind though is for a person with mobility issues there are some steep steps into the house.

Tips:

We went on the the Dean Forest Steam railway, with a day ticket for £12.00 it's possible to get on and off to see different places, all good to see. We visited Puzzlewood which was most unusual, we had an interesting walk there and saw the animals before enjoying refreshments in the cafe. We also went to Tintern Abbey - where we couldn't park!- and to Chepstow Castle.

A wonderful stay in this accommodation which looks over the River Wye. Very large Room and en suite bathroom with excellent shower. Everything about this accommodation id 5 star, from the hosts, decor, quality tea in room with mugs and teapot, fridge with real milk was perfect, a few cookies were also on the tea tray in the room. There is a small sun room which for guests which had a selection of home made cakes for guests to enjoy. The welcoming pack provided essential information which I needed.Very clean. Bed was so comfortable. Parking is up a steep driveway, completely normal for this area, as are the steps up to accommodation if you are not driving. Thank you for a wonderful stay.

Tips:

Walking along River Wye. Walk through the vast Forest of Dean- you may not cross paths with anyone along your walk. Great pub meals

Lovely stay, very nice standard of B&B, clean with good attention to detail. Several breakfast choices, all of which are to (very good) restaurant standard. Location up on the hill overlooking the river Wye is stunning.

Tips:

The Forge Hammer (pub) & River Spice (Indian) are both nice. The Indian food at River Spice is the best I’ve ever had. Ragmans Lane farm is wonderful if you happen to be attending an event there. There is also a car park and birth for canooing very close to the guest house as well as some local walks which I didn’t get a chance to try. There are many other attractions a reasonable drive away.

Excellent B&B to stay in. Jeremy and Helen are very welcoming. The rooms are well decorated and very clean. There is coffee/tea making facilities, a TV, iron and fan in each room. The bed is most comfortable and towels are replaced every other day. The breakfast is wonderful with every type of breakfast catered for! Helen's home made cakes and biscuits are very tempting as a selection is placed in the conservatory each day. All in all a wonderful place to stay in a very picturesque part of the world with great views. Just one point to make that the B&B is situated on a very steep incline which would not suit anyone with walking difficulties.

Tips:

Good local Indian restaurant a few minutes from the Belvedere with a local pub the Forge Hammer adjoining it. There is also a local Fish and Chips which serves excellent fish reasonably prices.

We highly recommend Belvedere House, everything is first class, so many special little touches from the homemade biscuits on the hospitality tray in the room to the homemade cake in the conservatory. Take advantage of these treats when you first arrive because once you have sampled the amazing breakfasts you will probably struggle to eat another thing. everything about our stay was first class. The best B & B we have ever stayed in.

Tips:

This is a great location with stunning views and so close to places like Symonds Yat, Ross-on-Wye and Monmouth. Jeremy and Helen provide details of local places to eat and we enjoyed great meals at The Inn on the Wye and The Dog and Muffler. Sadly the local Indian restaurant was fully booked during our stay, but there is always next time and we certainly intend to return

This B&B is in a quiet location and central position for exploring the Forest of Dean. There is ample parking on the drive and has excellent views across the valley. The home has large comfortable rooms with all the little extras like fresh milk in the fridge,a tray to put dirty boots and extra hand towel in the spacious bathroom. There was ample hot water for a long soak after a cycle ride. The breakfast was delicious with a huge choice. There was even a freshly baked cake for afternoon tea. Our hosts were very welcoming and nothing was too much trouble. They even had a choice of bedding.

Tips:

The cycle hire shop at Parkend was convenient to drive to and were able to provide a very comfortable bike for this granny to ride round the family trail which was easy to follow and fun to do.It was lovely to have a cup of tea in their cafe afterwards. The Steam train also stopped at Parkend if you wanted a ride but we just filmed it for our grandson. Goodrich Castle is impressive and we also enjoyed an easy walk form the house to Symonds Yat rock.

We had a really lovely overnight stay at the Belvedere House B&B. We arrived on our motorbikes and Helen and Jeremy kindly let us keep them in their garage overnight. Although, the B&B is tucked up out of the way off the road so they would have been fine at the top of the drive. Our room was spacious, stylish and well presented. Perfect to relax in after a tiring day. Delicious cake was available in the conservatory, which paired nicely with the tea/coffee and fresh milk in the room. Breakfast was wonderful. We will definitely come back if we are in the area again. Thank you.

Tips:

We had the large room overlooking the River Wye - this was worth every penny. We took a taxi to The Saracens Head for dinner which is at Symonds Yat East. The food here is not the cheapest on offer in the area - but was excellent. You can sit next to the River which is lovely.

Fantastic and thank you Only one comment:On the road the white board with the green writing is too small to read when you are driving past. And the Blackboard is ok. Why not have one big sign. It is difficult to find because of the white house below you. Just a thought

Owner Response:

Many thanks for staying with us and for your kind review. Regarding the signage. We are limited on the size of sign we can use and that is the reason for the blackboard. The large white building you refer to is the perfect landmark we can mention and is therefore referred to within the comprehensive directions we send to all our guests.

Helen and Jeremy are excellent hosts. Helen is a wonderful cook and Jeremy is courteous, helpful and knowledgeable on the surrounding area. We particularly liked the airy conservatory with comfy chairs and various leaflets and maps, which, together with Helen's delicious lemon sponge, made for a very pleasant place to relax and plan the next day.

Tips:

We enjoyed a meal at the River Spice Indian restaurant located in the pub just around the corner. We drove to Symonds Yat Rock for wonderful views of the Wye Valley and spotted a goshawk, two buzzards and a Peregrine Falcon in its nest. We walked from Symonds Yat East, along the riverside and over the bridge to return along the opposite bank. For a small charge you can then come back across the river on a small rope ferry boat. It is a lovely area.

I received a warm and friendly welcome after a long journey with tes and cake laid on which was not part of the deal but very much appreciated. Whilst it is not a suitable location for some people due to the narrow road and strep incline up the view is spectacular and the accommodation and food excellent.

Appreciated the superb attention to detail e.g. directions to location, information given regarding places to visit/dine, useful items in drawer, cake and biscuits on arrival, fresh milk in fridge, clean and well-appointed rooms, excellent and generous breakfast, friendliness/helpfulness of hosts (and family members!). It really felt like a place with "added value". You've obviously visited other BB and thought about what makes for a good eexperience. I have since visited another 4 star B&B which, although good, in no way matched up to yours!

Tips:

Would definitely visit again and recommend you to others. Only drawback would be accessibility issues due to steep steps to front door. This would make it impractical for someone like my mother, for example, who has limited mobility.

Helen & Jeremy couldn't have been more welcoming. The view from our bedroom and bathroom windows was beautiful. Informative email received from Helen giving directions on how to find the guesthouse which was helpful as the Sat Nav said we had reached our destination at least 2 miles away from the property Delicious breakfast with a huge variety and choice of food on the breakfast menu The guesthouse was spotless and nothing was too much trouble for Helen & Jeremy, not only offering cutlery & crockery for us to eat our Indian takeaway on/with but even warming the plates. Fresh milk and water in the fridge in the bedroom and we enjoyed the wonderful shortcake biscuits. Delicious complimentary homemade cakes This was one of the best guesthouses we have stayed and and will definitely be returning.

Tips:

The Indian takeaway from the Indian restaurant (which was within walking distance) was one of the best Indian takeaways we have had. We also enjoyed our meal at the Inn on the Wye which was a cosy pub about 2.5 miles from the guest house. Both places were listed on the information guide in the bedroom. We went on the train leaving Parkend station and got of at Lydney station to have a look around the little town and found a lovely little pub (The Swan Hotel). It was a freezing day and we sat next to a roaring fire on cosy leather sofas enjoying a Cappacino.

Tips:

Brilliant for walking or cycling and eating out all within few mins drive. Lovely local cinema only few min away for only a fiver. The historic town of Monmouth well worth a visit too. And saw pereguine falcons at symonds yat rock. What more could we ask for in a mini break! Plus such friendly helpful and welcoming hosts in Jeremy and Helen. One of the best breakfast that I had. The owners were very friendly and helpful. Comfy bed and nice en-suite bathroom. There is even cake in the conservatory. Great location by the river side. Wish that I could stay longer.

Tips:

It is not hard to find the hotel following detailed instruction. Parking is a bit tricky for me as a new driver. The place is close to most places in Forest of Dean and Wye Valley by car. I went to the Sculpture Trail and then to the Symond Yat Rock, and Clearwell Cave. You could do some short walking on the hill behind the garden as well.

We loved our stay at belvedere house! The owners, Helen and Jeremy were friendly and made us feel very welcome and comfortable. The room was clean and had some really nice homely touches, like yummy homemade shortbread and lots of choices of tea, and the bed was super comfy! The breakfast was amazing, I can definately recommend the homemade blueberry pancakes, and the homemade granola, and the homemade bread, in fact everything! The view from our room and the dining room were beyond compare and there are lots of great walks in the area. I will be going back as soon as I can and would absolutely recommend a stay at belvedere house.

Tips:

As I mentioned, there are lots of great walks in the area. Symonds Yat is only 4miles away and a walk to the top of symonds Rock is a must as the views are stunning. Helen and Jeremy recommended a lovely pub to us for dinner and gave us detailed directions.

Hi, it was great meeting you and thank you for taking the time to give us a review. It should be mentioned that the room you choose is stated as having a "garden view", whereas the other rooms are advertised as having a river view. You are of course quite right about the steps leading to the house. These can be seen in the pictures plus are mentioned on our website. Most guests feel it is well worth it for the breathtaking view at the top! regarding the parking, We have 2 parking areas and some guests, like yourself choose the one half way down our drive. Finally, I'm sorry that you struggled to find us. We will of course re-look at this. However, we do send out very detailed instructions which we frequently get complimented on and in fact yours is the first ever negative comment regarding this. Cheers Jeremy

The family that run this place are welcoming; always keen to ensure your catered for. There's a nice little conservatory, turned lounge where we could sit after the day, talk and relax; (with a little surprise for visitors) Excellent breakfasts; with wide variety of options all created deliciously. My Nephew said it well; we'd only planned on a place to stay; but the Belvedere house "was an experience unto itself". 30th July 2016:

The house is beautiful and very clean and the owners are both extremely friendly and welcoming. However, I have recently had major surgery and there are at least 15 steep steps from the car park up to the front door which were a struggle for me and may well put off other potential visitors if they are not good on their feet. There is one downstairs bedroom and that should be kept for people with walking disabilities as the other two bedrooms are up another flight of stairs. Once you get there though the views of the river and open fields are breathtakingly stunning! In fact I would go as far as to say that they are at least as good as the views from Symons Yap. The bedrooms are sizable and with all the facilities that you would expect from a major hotel. there is also an excellent bathroom with a walk in shower with toiletries available. Breakfast was fit for a King and set us up for the rest of the day so highly recommended!

Tips:

If you have the time a walk up the road alongside the river is fantastic to see all the flora and fauna and swans, geese and ducks. Taking in the fresh air gives you a healthy appetite I can tell you!

Along with a selection of teas snd coffee, there were delicious homemade shortbread biscuits and also a small fridge with fresh milk in and a bottle of cold water. The views from our room were great too. Breakfast was amazing, plenty of choice and even homemade bread. We definitely recommend the b & b and look forward to returning in the future.

We stay regularly in a wide range of B&Bs and hotels. This B&B absolutely shines above all of them, some of which are very good indeed. I have never experienced anywhere before such genuine, friendly hosts, such beautiful home-made cake provided fresh each day as a complimentary welcome back in the afternoon, such wonderful breakfasts (try the pancakes!!), So many thoughtful additional extras, such a tremendous view from the bedroom. I could go on. I cannot recommend Belvedere House strongly enough. Please try it and you will see what mean.

Tips:

The biggest tip is - try this place. It is brilliant! For things to try and places to eat, I suggest you ask your hosts Jeremy and Helen. They regularly check local venues.

Lovely to be back for a mini retreat/break at Beldevere House again. Perfect location overlooking the River Wye. All the stresses just disappear with birds at the feeder just by window during breakfast. Fantastic range and of breakfast to indulge in once again. Helen is an amazing cook! They have thought of everything for the perfect break.

Tips:

Enjoyed a lovely walk by Cannock Ponds only 15 mins away in the Forest, just wished we'd remembered our bikes as great tracks, but places to hire though too. Can also enjoy a very good priced cup of tea and biscuit or ice cream by the lake from a little kiosk there too. I spent one night here whilst taking a pottery course in near by Ruardean. I was very pleased with my stay and would recommend Belvedere House to my friends. Superb hillside location overlooking the river Wye. My room had a spectacular view! The B&B is tastefully decorated with contemporary furniture and fixtures and fitings, was spotlessly clean and very welcoming. Breakfast offered healthy alternatives as well as the usual full English. The owners were very friendly and helpful. Not recommended for anyone with mobility problems as the final approach to the property is up a flight of steps but this is clearly stated on their website. All in all Belevdere comes highly recommend.

Highly recommend Belvedere House as the best Bed and Breakfast we have EVER stayed in! Perfect home from home but better! Pure quality in every way from cleanliness, comfort, stunning views over the Wye from both front bedroom and dining room. First time ever to see Woodpecker, blue tits, long tailed tits, robin, chaffinch on bird feeder right up close, whilst we had the most amazing breakfast ever. Cannnot fault it for anything. ,And of course not forgetting the welcoming friendly hosts Jeremy and Helen. Where else would you get welcomed with cup of tea and delicious homemade cake? Nothing it seems has been forgotten to ensure you have the best stay possible, even to that forgotten toothbush! Such good value, worth every penny! We'll be back!

We had a lovely stay: both bedroom and en-suite bathroom were immaculately clean and beautifully furnished. Lots of little touches that made the stay so pleasant eg. fresh milk and a bottle of water in the room fridge, some lovely biscuits and some delicious homemade cakes. Our hosts were very welcoming & friendly and breakfast was wonderful: the menu offered was extensive, my scrambled eggs & salmon on a muffin was delicious and my partner did his very best to work his way through the offered croissants, large full English breakfast, toast and fresh fruit and yoghurt! And the view from the breakfast room was amazing. A lovely B&B, recommend fully.

Tips:

We ate our evening meal at the Inn on the Wye, a ten minute drive from B&B. Very pleasant inn and staff very friendly. Breadcrumbed haddock recommended.

Helen and Jeremy could not have been more welcoming and considerate hosts, they made my stay at Belvedere House extremely comfortable and enjoyable. The breakfasts were of the highest standard, and there was an extensive choice of menus. There are glorious views of the Wye Valley from the breakfast room and most of the bedrooms.

Tips:

The Indian Restaurant just round the corner does very good food, and Helen and Jeremy can recommend a good list of other local restaurants and pubs. The Ruardean Garden Pottery is well worth a visit. I had the most relaxing time, staying for two nights. Absolutely everything at Belvedere was top of the range: the beautiful and pleasantly quiet room, the truly comfortable bed, the very generous breakfast menu (impressively, even the delicious hashbrowns were home-made), the friendly and helpful advice about the area. Belvedere's location is also pretty much perfect, it's very close to the heart of the Forest as well as to Symonds Yat. There are free copies of the owners' walk descriptions available in the conservatory (as well as cake!).

Superlative accommodation with mesmerising view across the River Wye and unsurpassable breakfasts.

Tips:

We loved the Inn on the Wye which although busy fitted us in even with a baby. Symonds Yat is a real beauty spot - Symonds Yat East village gives lovely riverside views and walks along the River Wye and Symonds Yat Rock gives a fantastic view across the river valley and chances to see peregrine falcons. Canoe hire places are not always attended during mid-mornings and may go to answerphone. We eventually found a canoe hire place and were lucky they had two remaining spaces for the 1 o'clock trip. I recommend doing your homework on the web first although with web pre-booking you may feel tied in to a hire even if the weather deteriorates. Our canoe trip was taken gently and gave us thrills when we saw woodpeckers and peregrine falcons and crossed rough water.

This is a lovely B&B with wonderful views to the river Wye and beyond. The breakfast was excellent with homemade Granola and Muesli and taste local produce. On arrival there was a beautifully backed sponge cake in the conservatory to help yourself to with a nice cup of earl grey tea!

Tips:

Lots to do and see especially the Canoeing on the River Wye and the excellent walks available.

An excellent stay, we loved the cake on arrival. The room was great and the breakfast was copius and high quality. Very sorry about spilling the wine and thanks for your patience and understanding on this, I still havent found my neck muffler which has a blue white and red skull and crossbones pattern so if you do find it please let me know. Thanks! Ken

Tips:

Wasnt so keen on the Royal Spring pub, we both had steaks and found them to be only average, the service was also quite surly. This is no reflection on yourselves though. I have also reviewed you on Trip Advisor and given an excellent rating. Thanks again.

Hi Ken it was a pleasure meeting you both and thank you for your review. Don't worry about the wine, these things do happen and it doesn't seem to have left a stain Your scarf is a mystery, we've both double checked the room and there's no sign of it. Sorry you didn't get on so well at the Royal Spring, most people seem to like it. Maybe they were having an off day. Hope to see you again Regards Jeremy

Location only 4, view gorgeous but not much within walking distance. Everything else was perfect, hosts, room, bathroom, homemade cake on arrival, peaceful, comfortable sleep and a breakfast to die for, cooked to your liking, homemade jams and bread, cereals, juices, croissants, the list goes on, you may struggle to finish. If you looking for hustle and bustle avoid, for great food, stunning views, comfort and a warm welcome this ticks all the boxes.

Great to have you stay with us and thank you for your kind review. It's true, you often find in rural communities you have to travel a little further for amenities compared with towns and cities. We are lucky though to have 2 good eating places within easy walking distance and plenty more within a short drive. There are details of local eating places kept in each guest room. Hope to see you again soon. Cheers Jeremy

24th June 2015:

I am happy to recommend The Belvedere House Bed & Breakfast in Lydbrook where we stayed for 3 nights.  Our room was stylishly decorated, light and airy with a spacious bathroom and big walk in shower.  The owners have really paid attention to the details that make for a comfortable stay - good quality bedding and towels, a well stocked hospitality tray, wooden clothes hangers, good toiletries, plenty of tissues and loo roll.  There are a lot of thoughtful extra touches too - a little fridge, fresh milk, cold water - as well as a guest lounge/conservatory where lovely cake was provided daily. Jeremy and Helen were friendly, welcoming and helpful in every way from emailing us before we arrived with local info to providing bike storage, directions and recommendations throughout our stay.  Breakfast was excellent - lots of choice, freshly prepared, good quality and well cooked.  Delicious!!  We also enjoyed the local pub The Royal Spring Inn where we ate every night - typical pub food - steak & kidney pie, fish & chips, chicken curry - all very good indeed.

A gem of a B&B overlooking the Wye. Had a great weekend river access for canoe just in front of hotel. Very friendly owners and breakfast to die for not just full English but a good variety of lighter eats -including kippers. Stayed in lots of hotels and self catering accommodation over the years- this has to be one of the best. We like to visit a variety of places but Belvedere is definitely be on a return to list. Highly recommended

Tips:

Symonds Yat well worth a visit as is the Forest Of Dean visitors centre near Cinderford.

Friendly and helpful welcome, excellent accommodation with immaculate and thoughtful facilities. Cake on arrival and breakfast in morning excellent. Whilst no problem for us, we did think that the steps up to the house may be a problem for some visitors. Overall, one of the best B and B s we have stayed in and we would highly recommend it.

Tips:

Several local pubs/restaurants. We went to the Indian restaurant and enjoyed a recommendable meal. Views and river walks stunning. Easy access to the Forest of Dean and Wye Valley.
