28th July 2017:

Mount Annexe is in a wonderful location for exploring the Wye Valley and Forest of Dean. There are literally walks from the doorstep. The accommodation has a great open plan living/dining/kitchen area with patio doors into the large garden. The garden has several places to sit and a summer house, as well as patio furniture.

Tips:

There are several pubs within about 30-40 minutes walk, although the nearest one is only 10 minutes walk away - all of them are dog friendly. We visited the Dog and Muffler, The Globe and the New Inn and ate at all of them. We were made to feel welcome and wouldn't hesitate to recommend them to other people. Symonds Yat rock is a short walk away and there are numerous walking trails in the forest across the road from Mount Annexe. We enjoyed exploring the Forest of Dean as well as Tintern. We recommend a visit to Brockweir too.

12th March 2017:

The Annex is situated on the edge of the forest so is a great location for walks. A large garden is available. The Annex is spacious, clean and well equipped. We were very comfortable during our stay. I highly recommend it. We did not meet hosts but knew they were nearby if we needed anything.

Great, lovely place to stay, we didn't want to leave

Tips:

We struggled to find a place to eat out on Monday, a lot of places took the night off

8th November 2016:

Beds were incredibly comfortable which was great. Maybe a note to mention the garden isnt secure for smaller dogs as ours could easily have gone under the gate. Photo in gallery shows a Westie off lead, of a similar size lying in garden

Tips:

Recommend the New Inn in Shortstanding which is less than 5 minutes drive away for Sunday dinner. Pub which is dog friendly and food is lovely. Advise booking a table as it is a very popular pub.

15th June 2016:

Beautifully presented with lovely gardens. Only 4 out of 5 for facilities as the WiFi was intermittent, even though this was stated as having WiFi on the advertising details. May I suggest a WiFi booster be put in place, to alleviate this problem?

Tips:

Fountain Inn at Parkend does a lovely Sunday carvery.Tram Stop fish and chips in Coleford for HUGE portions! Puzzle wood great for a couple of hours 'entertainment'!

I just can't fault Mount Annexe. It is ideally situated - peaceful but close to other places. Dogs absolutely loved it.

Tips:

Had lovely meals at both the Rising Sun and The Dog and Muffler - both dog friendly - staff were wonderful and food was fabulous.

23rd February 2016:

Very nice quiet location. Plenty of lovely towels and well equipped cottage. The milk and biscuits on arrival were much appreciated. Wi-Fi was only available in the double bedroom which was a bit disappointing as I have to work when away so spent some time having to sit in the bedroom while rest of family were in the lounge, however the Wi-Fi service was available which has been a problem in previous places in the same area despite being told there was some. Thank you for a lovely stay

Tips:

If you like Rugby go and see a local team Lydney RFC, Regentsholme, Regent Street, Lydney GL15 5RN. Excellent grounds and club house. They are in the National League 3 South West league and it cost £8 to get in. Great Chinese takaway, does not look good from the outside but food was excellent tasted delicious and huge portions, had to have several times during our stay. 4th November 2015:

Beautiful place, home from home, tranquil, central to the forest. Our dogs loved the beautiful garden and especially being free when we went into forest which is a stone's throw away. This has been our 5th visit and we would highly recommend this beautiful accommodation.

Tips:

Lots of local amenities, fantastic walks especially for nature lovers. Also the piece and tranquility.

1st November 2015:

Fabulous location for walking in the Forest of Dean. Clean and comfortable place to stay; lots of space for ourselves and the dogs. The tea tray and biscuits was a lovely touch on arrival. Beautiful garden, the dogs loved playing in it - too chilly for us to sit out, but great to watch the visiting birds, including a pair of jays. I would definitely recommend a stay; we're certainly hoping to come back.

Tips:

Ten minutes from access to many walks in the Forest of Dean. We particularly enjoyed a long walk from Mallards Pike (and the dog dip) and wandering around the woods near Speech House and through the arboretum. Autumn colours absolutely fabulous.
