29th September 2019:

Carol is very welcoming, homemade cake waited us along with essentials in the cottage. The Granary had everything we needed and more, perfect size for the two of us. The location of the farm is ideal and the views are beautiful. Carol will even dry wet clothes in front of her aga if needed! We have stayed b&b in th farmhouse itself in the past and always had a wonderful stay.

Tips:

For a great Indian meal would recommend the short drive to Lea Spice in the Crown the food was gorgeous and reasonably priced. Cardiff is only a easy 1 hour drive away and well worth a visit. The Butterfly Farm at Symonds Yat is a great way to spend a couple of hours whatever your age, there is a lovely cafe in the grounds and a few other activities for children too.

25th August 2019:

All very enjoyable, despite the fly-swatting, which we quite understand is a part of life's rich tapestry, not least on a farm. One small suggestion for first-timers: could there be another sign at end of Benhall Lane, at the parting of three ways? It took us a little while to work out that we needed to take the left turning! Liked the tea-pot and cafetière: very civilised.

Tips:

We ate one evening at the White Lion, and certainly recommend it. Spent a morning on the Forest of Dean Railway, though it was poor weather that day, and the town of Lydney wasn't very exciting! We liked the steam and diesel engines. Otherwise we were content to wander around or sit and read in the cottage or on the lawn, as weather dictated.

Garden cottage is always very comfortable, the homemade cakes are always appreciated, we have stayed here quite a few times. Carol & her family work very hard & are extremely friendly. We go for the fishing & have caught quite a few over the years. We will be back.

Tips:

All the tea shops in Ross all seem to be good. Our favourite restaurant in Ross is No 3 & the white Lion & the Royal Hotel do very good lunches. It’s about 15 minutes walk into Ross from Benhall Farm.

16th July 2019:

A farm stay which is right in the middle of the farm, so close to cows and associated sounds and smells. But private to come and go. Access off A49 roundabout a bit hairy but do-able. Walkable into Ross-on-Wye with places to eat and other amenities. Would use again.

Tips:

Private fishing within farm boundaries, (£5 per day, ticket from host), close to the town (road noise) and easy access to other places. Tip - to avoid traffic congestion if travelling beyond Hereford, go via the road signposted to Ledbury, a lot quieter!

9th July 2019:

A very nice, light and airy cottage with huge sash windows and high ceilings. The owners were friendly and helpful.

Tips:

The fishing on the farm has good swims and is not overcrowded, as it is for Ross Anglers members only. There are nice short walks around the farm and Ross for an evening stroll. For a "proper" pub call in at the Man O' Ross.

We enjoyed our stay. We did feel the view as we opened our door wasnt the best. Looking at cow sheds! It was very smelly! Very noisy at times with sound of machinery. Carole was a lovely friendly lady. Nice touch welcoming with cake

Tips:

Take your own hairdryer. Lots of eating places within 15mins walk.

This was our third visit to The Granary and thoroughly enjoyed our stay. The welcome tray on arrival was really appreciated. We particularly liked being able to walk across the fields into Ross.

7th August 2018:

Garden Cottage gives a feeling of space because of its nice high ceiling. We had cake to welcome us when we arrived. The shower was hot but not very powerful. There was a complimentary set of toiletries which was a nice touch. The bed was comfortable. The location was decent - not far from busy road but felt secluded once there and a great base for exploring Ross on Wye. Overall a great stay despite iffy weather at the start and super value for money. Also...sorry about breaking the mugs and thanks for being so nice about it!

Tips:

I would recommend eating at The Royal Hotel and visiting The Weir garden, Westbury Court gardens, and Croft Castle (the walled garden there is gorgeous).
