Tony and Doreen are the perfect hosts, they made us feel really welcome and anything we needed was just a call away, could not fault this little holiday one bit will define returning next year.

Tips:

We didn’t really do restaurants but I do recommend going for a walk through the Forrest! It’s beautiful landscapes are mind blowing, but please be aware there are wild boar around and are extremely dangerous when with there young, and also keep dogs on leads when in build up (overgrown) bushy areas.

A lovely cottage with everything you would need, has so many little touches even has cotton pads and make up wipes. Everything has been thought of and all very modern. Was very clean and tidy. Loved having the fairy lights all around the outside of the cottage.

Tips:

There are lots of nice places to eat that we were recommended, ask Tony and Doreen and they would me more than happy to tell you some nice places to eat. But me and my partner stayed in a lot as we love just being romantic and cozy and enjoying the hot tub with a glass of prosecco. Lots of nice walks. Just down the road there is a craft place (I can't remember it's name) Christmas Market is going up soon, nice little shops in there especially the chocolate shop.

Such a cosy and warm place to stay. We have visited now three times and each time we have had a wonderful time. We love the forest and its walks. The local pub is friendly and relaxed and our hosts at the cottage we feel now like they are are our friends

Tips:

Just explore the ancient woods. Take in the fresh air and the beauty of the area. We have very few forest areas left in the UK so that it kindly and above all respect its beauty and wildlife

18th August 2018:

We really enjoyed our stay in The Tallet, like a home from home, good facilities all round and very nice to relax in the hot tub after a day out. Hosts are very helpful and are there if you need them but respect your privacy too. In a good location with easy access to explore the area and beyond. We would return without hesitation.

Tips:

We ate from the local chippy which we enjoyed, visited the Forest of Dean for walking & mountain biking, Clearwell Caves was worth a visit, and The Dean Forest Railway was a good day out too. We also had a day out in Gloucester which has a lovely Cathedral and Inland Waterways Museum. We will have to return to do all the things we could not fit in this time.

3rd July 2018:

Amazing place. Really nice people. Great location and amazing view! We will be coming back for certain! We loved meeting the puppies and the horses and really loved the hot tub overlooking the amazing view with the really well done deck (and I loved the amount of plants there were). Really great people and wifi worked well and they responded really well to emails. I liked the wetroom. Only criticism I had was i wished there was a window or something we could open at night as we were staying during the heatwave and we were quite hot at night.

Tips:

The Cock Inn is about a 10 minute walk - great outdoor space and great local beers; I had a cider that was made on the street the cottage was on! Really nice landlord too! Shut on Wednesdays I think and not open for lunch sadly (I dont think). There is also Blakeney fish n Chips alight might be a 15 minute walk perhaps. Suggest if you walk to the pub bring a torch for the walk back for safety.

Thanks for those kind words Darren - it was a pleasure to host you. Take your point about ventilation in the bedroom - we are experiencing unusually high night-time temperatures at the moment so have offered a fan to our guests. Great to meet you and look forward to osting you again in teh future. Tony & Doreen Lorimer

Our second stay in this adorable upside down cottage, We just love it here! Sitting in the hot tub in what feels like a secret garden, looking out at the beautiful view is one of our favourite places to be, it's so tranquil! Also how could you not love stepping out your front door and within ft being greeted by gorgeous horses. We always have a perfect romantic relaxation break!! :)

Tips:

So many places to visit which aren't too far either, peaceful walks locally and Forest of Dean is right on your door step. Also if you like Indian food "bengal balti" is delicious & defiantly worth a try!

17th October 2017:

We were made to feel very welcome by our hostess. The cottage has been very tastefully modernised, enjoying a great view over surrounding scenic countryside. The upstairs lounge/ kitchen is very comfortable and leads to the wonderful hot tub offering complete privacy and fantastic views to the Severn estuary. The bed is so comfortable...we really slept well. We will definitely be coming back.

Tips:

We ate at the local Italian restaurant, excellent food and service, all for a very reasonable price.

very helpful & knowledgeable about the area.

easy walk to the local pub (Cock) is fine for dining or a drink. things to see and do too many to list. walks based from the local `reservoir' are quiet and less sanitised.

Thanks for your useful feedback. I like your point about sanitised woodland walks - I think we have a good mix of organised woodlands areas with proper parking but also the wilder areas for going off track. Tony

18th March 2017:

This was our second visit and we weren't disappointed. The cottage was as lovely as we remembered, as were the hosts Doreen and Tony. The hot tub is the best we have experienced and was well used by us after days of sightseeing. Only downside is the lack of a "proper" cooker, but it's on Tony's "to do list". Wouldn't stop us returning or recommending though. Thanks for a fantastic stay xx

Tips:

Take a trip on the Forest of Dean Steam Railway. Well worth it.

A lovely relaxing getaway, we loved our little stay here and would recommend to anyone wanting that peaceful break they're looking for. We loved everything about it, the hottub we are missing already :( Tony was lovely and made us feel at home.

We took a drive to the butterfly farm and puzzle maze, on the way back we found a pub called crosskeys inn which was lovely and the food was great and reasonable prices.
